dans votre présentation, vous soupirez ainsi : « Dragon Ball, franchement… »
Même si j’abonde dans votre sens sur certains points (médiocrité des titres mangas les plus populaires vendus en France), je vous conseille de lire les premiers tomes du manga (et non de l’anime) Dragon Ball.
C’est tout à fait excellent. C’est une relecture du classique chinois ‘le voyage en occident’ tout comme l’était « la légende de SonGoku » de Tezuka que nous apprécions, il semble, tous les deux, énormément.
Je préfère largement la version de Toriyama dans ses débuts. Il s’agit de la meilleure adaptation de ce classique qui m’ait été donné de voir avec l’excellent film de Stephen Chow (le roi singe).
J’apprécie votre approche éditoriale sur ce blog, mais vous ne vous exprimez plus en Newbie. Je pense que vous êtes devenus quelque peu érudit sur la question. Là n’est pas le problème, mais étant donné votre parcours (musique,Tardi, Moebius), je pense que vos chroniques gagneraient à intégrer vos connaissances extra-mangas afin de mettre en relief leurs intérêts et de relativiser leur portée. Je trouve, en effet, que vous reproduisez trop le schéma typique du webzine sur les mangas pour les mangavores. Il en existe tant ! Un microcosme qui se nourrit de lui-même. Il faut ouvrir les fenêtres !
La génération post-moderne, qui s’ancre dans des niches culturelles et sociologiques, va, selon moi, dans le mur. Geek est devenu le terme référent, et chacun devient geek d’un truc. Autant dire qu’on se place des oeillères devant les yeux et l’esprit et que l’on se complait dans son microcosme. Je pense que vous avez l’ouverture d’esprit, la curiosité intellectuelle pour amorcer une telle ouverture. Et je pense que votre public vous suivra.
Les quelques commentaires que j’ai pu écrire, sont souvent acerbes, certes, mais je l’espère constructifs. Vous avez devinez qu’il n’y a plus rien à écrire sur Akira, mais vous l’avez fait pour Revolver.
Vous soutenez, à juste titre, le génie d’Osamu Tezuka, mais vous en venez à le relativiser avec votre apologie d’Urosawa. Même si je n’apprécie que peu cet auteur (que j’ai tout de même lu) et que je devrais me garder d’avis aussi définitifs et subjectifs. Je pense qu’il y a une certaine hiérarchie de valeur à mettre en place dans vos chroniques. User de superlatifs pour un auteur qui ne les mérite pas déclasse les superlatifs utilisés pour ceux qui le méritent.
Concernant les points positifs, ce sont eux qui m’ont fait lire votre blog donc ils sont bels et biens présents (écriture fluide, mise en page agréable du site, bandeau avec Goshu, une approche introspective de votre rôle de chroniqueur et de vos interprétations).

Voilà enfin un avis plus argumenté, vous le dites vous-même (on se vouvoie? tutoie? le vouvoiement ne me dérange pas, ça change) que les commentaires que j’ai découverts au sujet de Pluto, de Revolver et de Stendhal. Je les aurais de toute façon conservés (je n’efface que des spams) mais j’ai été tenté de ne pas y répondre, n’y voyant pasau début l’amorce d’un dialogue. Anyway.
Je pense que vous avez compris une partie de ma démarche, qui est d’élargir, quand j’en suis capable, mes « nanalyses » à des références extérieures au monde des mangas. quand j’en suis capable, car ce n’est pas toujours le cas, je suis, s’agissant de la culture et de l’histoire du Japon, encore en pleine phase d’apprentissage initial. Cependant, si je suis attaché au qualificatif de newbie, au point de le choisir comme titre de mon blog, ce n’est pas en rapport avec mes connaissances supposées, mais plutôt en rapport avec une attitude que je revendique, une posture compliquée et casse-gueule peut-être, qui est celle de regarder chaque produit culturel avec la curiosité d’un newbie. Ce qui me blase, je n’en parle pas, et puis c’est tout. Quant à l’érudition, ce n’est en rien une qualité, juste un dégât collatéral de ma curiosité.
L’idée, c’est aussi de ne pas verser dans la critique, c’est-à-dire de ne pas prendre des raccourcis journalistiques, que je trouve bien plus réducteurs que les schémas bloguesques, quand bien même le milieu des blogs serait refermé sur lui-même. C’est difficile, je le vois quand je me relis, et je verse dans ce travers de « critique pro » trop souvent encore, surtout quand je ne suis pas inspiré (ou que je suis trop pressé). Je n’ai pas la prétention de croire que tout ce que j’écris atteint cet objectif : raconter, le plus simplement possible, l’histoire de ma rencontre avec une oeuvre ou un produit culturel, en m’abstenant de jugements de valeurs. C’est pour cela que je m’abstiens d’établir une hiérarchie (et que je me refuse à donner des notes, c’est si facile, les notes) : si elle existe malgré tout, elle se forme dans l’esprit du lecteur de mes chroniques, et je n’ai rien à y redire. Je reconnais toutefois le plaisir égocentrique et facile que j’ai à écrire, et à me lâcher honteusement, parfois, sur ce que je qualifie de nanars. S’agissant d’Urasawa : je ne connaissais quasiment pas Tezuka avant d’avoir lu Pluto. Donc, quoi qu’on puisse penser d’Urasawa, il a joué, en ce qui me concerne, un rôle de relais à un moment donné. Rétrospectivement, d’Urasawa, c’est surtout Monster que je retiens.
S’agissant de Dragon Ball, le jugement que j’ai exprimé était partiel et partial, certes, et explicable dans le contexte. Cette présentation était réellement le premier texte que j’ai écrit pour le blog. Je n’exclus pas de lire Dragonball (je me suis bien mis à lire Saint Seiya!), bien que je sois un peu découragé devant la quantité de tomes que cela représente. Il sera alors temps d’en parler de façon moins définitive.
Enfin, s’agissant de ma bannière, petite correction : oui, cela aurait pu être Goshu, que j’aime beaucoup, mais en l’occurrence il s’agit de Shinji, de NGE, qui joue Bach au violoncelle (et fort bien) à plusieurs reprises dans la série.
