Ce qu’il y a de bien, avec la pop japonaise , c’est que c’est pas de la musique à se prendre la tête. C’est immédiatement marrant, décalé, jouissif, et souvent complètement premier degré (dans le bon sens du terme). bref, idéal pour se défouler ou s’amuser un vendredi soir après une semaine de boulot.
C’est pourquoi j’en écoute régulièrement, avec un plaisir un peu coupable, sans comprendre un mot des paroles, mais sous le charme de leur sens de l’autodérision, de leur look souvent improbable, et de leur (mauvais) goût assumé. Tout ce que je recherche pour passer un pur moment de rock’n'roll.
Des artistes aux styles aussi différents que Cornelius, Pizzicato Five, Fantastic Plastic Machine, Towa Tei, et les Polysics, j’en redemande. Ils ont en commun une candeur rafraîchissante, et un rare talent pour synthétiser, à leur manière, tout ce qui me plaît dans la pop occidentale : les guitares lourdes de Black Sabbath ET le dadaïsme de Devo ET l’esprit punk de Gang of Four ET l’élégance de Gainsbourg ET les synthés de Kraftwerk etc etc… Avec en plus : l’électro héritée de Yellow Magic Orchestra, la culture manga/anime, le goût pour les musiques de jeux vidéos, et le sens de la fête.
Ce joyeux cocktail de culture populaire et d’avant-garde renouvelle complètement mon regard blasé, et chaque fois que j’entends un de leurs singles, je me surprend à hocher la tête et à taper du pied, un sourire béat aux lèvres.
Pour commencer cette série de billets sur mes groupes préférés de J-Pop, et autres avatars nippons, voici les… Polysics, ce que j’ai entendu de plus marrant, crétin (mais étudié) donc parfaitement rock’n'roll depuis un moment.

Le délire continue, dans cette vidéo sous amphètes qui mélange le style punk pas sérieux (c’est presque du Plastic Bertrand ou du Nina Hagen!) et les dissonances à la Devo (Devo, leur influence n°1 assumée, y compris pour le look).
