Touch, mais si, vous savez, ce best-seller mélangeant le base-ball et les intrigues sentimentales. Présenté comme ça, évidemment, ça ne fait pas spécialement envie (et sinon, merci de vous manifester, j’aimerais comprendre) donc voilà, résultat : je n’avais jamais ouvert un manga de Mitsuru Adachi. Oubli réparé avec le présent opus, grâce aux ressources insoupçonnées de ma médiathèque. (attention, spoilers)
A la différence de ses nombreux shonen de sport, Jinbé est un one-shot orienté seinen – bien qu’il s’agisse d’une romance, et qu’on y parle occasionnellement de soccer. Sauf que la romance en question n’est pas tellement conventionnelle. C’est l’histoire de la relation ambigüe entre Miku, une jeune fille de 17 ans, et Jinpei, alias Jinbé (le requin), son beau-père de bientôt quarante ans. Avec un sujet pareil, je m’attendais au pire, au graveleux, lourd de non-dits et de sous-entendus. Heureusement, l’humour donne de la légèreté aux situations. Par exemple, elle prend les détours d’un triangle amoureux, lorsque Jinpei croit voir un rival en Teranishi, le brillant avant-centre de l’équipe de soccer du lycée. Jinpei étant un ancien gardien de but et champion universitaire, le conflit se règlera… aux penaltys. Idem lorsque l’entourage de Jinpei tente de le caser en organisant des rencontres avec des femmes célibataires, il se défile… en allant s’entraîner au stade. Sauvé par le foot, en somme.
L’histoire prend un tour plus dramatique quand ressurgit le vrai père de Miku, un homme d’affaires self-made-man qui en impose, avec ses belles voitures de sport et sa maison d’architecte. Jinpei, lui, partage avec Miku un deux-pièces dans une résidence modeste, et gagne sa vie comme agent d’entretien dans un aquarium. Cette apparition agit comme un révélateur pour Jinpei, qui confronté au père biologique de Miku, finit par se rendre compte de la vraie nature de ses sentiments.
Dommage que le scénario tisse alors une ficelle énorme, et déjà vue, en proposant un épisode semi-fantastique où la mère décédée de Miku réapparaît, et donne tacitement son accord à la relation en faisant réapparaître une bague de fiançailles jadis perdue, et miraculeusement retrouvée dans un jardin. Un tel deus ex-machina aurait pu définitivement ruiner l’intrigue (d’autant que la question du deuil n’est pas du tout abordée), lui retirant toute la légèreté qui la rendait intéressante. La comédie – et un zeste de suspense – reviennent à temps, et c’est sur une fin plutôt ouverte que s’achève Jinbé, après deux ou trois rebondissements dont je vous laisse la surprise.
Jinbé est un manga difficile à définir, je ne l’ai pas trouvé déplaisant, même plutôt charmant, mais un sujet pareil me laisse tout de même une sensation d’inconfort. Même si les personnages sont sympathiques, et que Jinpei, malgré son âge, est avant tout un grand gamin immature et naïf déguisé en quadragénaire, il n’en reste pas moins que c’est une histoire d’amour entre une mineure et l’adulte qui l’a élevée. Bien qu’il ne s’y passe rien de sexuel, les éléments « utiles » du scénario (ce n’est pas son vrai père, tout ça) n’enlèvent pas cette impression.
Quand au manga lui-même, le dessin tout en rondeur de Mitsuru Adachi passe bien, avec quelques beaux dessins même, et convient bien au ton de comédie sentimentale de cette histoire. Dommage que Tonkam n’ait laissé en couleurs que les premières pages du volume : l’édition japonaise propose des pages couleurs à chacun des six chapitres, je les ai reprises pour illustrer le présent billet. Au final, j’ai trouvé ce manga intéressant mais pas inoubliable, et compte tenu des réserves que j’ai exprimées, je vous laisse juges sur l’intérêt de vous le procurer. Ou pas.
Jinbé est l’œuvre d’Adachi qui m’a le plus déçu. Pour la même raison qu’Un drôle de Père certainement…
que je n’ose toujours pas lire, bien que j’y aie pensé en écrivant…
Quel est l’âge de la majorité sexuelle au Japon ? Cette histoire a-t-elle là-bas le même potentiel sulfureux qu’ici ?
J’aime bien Adachi, et cette histoire fut ma porte d’entrée dans son univers. Les défauts énumérés dans l’article sont réels, mais passé le thème ou les couacs du scénario, c’est aussi une introduction vers un style, un graphisme, une subtilité qui personnellement m’ont donné envie d’aller plus loin.
Un drôle de père est quand même traité selon un autre point de vue, avec une façon de raconter beaucoup plus fine que celle d’Adachi dans Jinbé… Par contre la fin déçoit (pressions editoriales, peut d’aller très loin dans le scénario et de s’y perdre?), même si elle est toujours bien traitée!
Y’avait un anime qui portait sur ce sujet aussi, pas trop mal fichu, mais sur un grand frère plus vieux?
