L’histoire :
Ponyo est la fille de la déesse de la mer, et d’un sorcier autrefois humain, Fujimoto. Elle vit à l’état de poisson dans le sous-marin de son père. Curieuse et aventureuse, elle s’échappe, et rejoint le monde des humains, à l’air libre. Elle est recueillie par Sosûke, un petit garçon qui la prend pour un poisson rouge. Il se crée une étrange relation entre les deux. Devenue une vraie petite fille, espiègle et souriante, Ponyo veut rester avec Sosûke, qui a promis de se s’occuper d’elle pour toujours. Sans s’en rendre compte, elle déclenche la fureur de l’océan, qui submerge le monde des humains, forcés à se réfugier sur des bateaux ou des terres émergées. Mais l’amour que se portent les deux enfants sauvera-t-il le monde?
Ce que j’en pense:
Ponyo est un pur enchantement. Au sens premier du terme : c’est une variation sur l’histoire de la petite sirène, donc un conte de fée, et dans un conte de fée tout est possible. Si on s’attache à retracer l’enchaînement logique des évènements, à rechercher le pourquoi du comment, à analyser, on risque de passer complètement à côté…
Ponyo est un conte, que nous raconte ce grand-père bienveillant qu’est Miyazaki. il faut le regarder comme si nous étions ses petits enfants. Il n’a plus rien à prouver : Totoro, Chihiro, Mononoké, Nausicaa etc, ont déjà exploré bien des chemins. Sans jamais ou presque quitter le monde de l’enfance, il a abordé les thèmes les plus graves, les plus variés, les plus vitaux pour notre monde. Était-il nécessaire d’en remettre une couche? L’intelligence de Miyazaki est aussi de savoir se fier à son public : en s’adressant aux plus petits sans les prendre pour des bébés niais, et en s’adressant aux plus grands en leur faisant revivre la prime enfance.
Car, oui, en allant voir ce film en salle, j’étais à égalité avec mon fils, 5 ans à l’époque, qui a probablement compris ce film encore plus immédiatement que moi. Bon, Ponyo court pieds nus au sommet des vagues. Sa maman est une déesse qui mesure 20 mètres de haut et qui commande à l’océan. Il y a un cataclysme qui engloutit presque tout mais personne ne meurt. Les réfugiés naviguent paisiblement sur des barques ou des paquebots et attendent de rentrer chez eux. Il n’y pas un seul méchant dans tout le film. ET ALORS? C’est comme ça. L’histoire est abracadabrante et se termine sur un bisou. Mais franchement, je ne suis pas sûr que j’aurais préféré une autre fin…
Miyazaki est un génie, il sait faire AUSSI ce genre de films, que n’importe qui d’autre chercherait à faire rentrer dans le moule industriel Disney. Ici, pas de chansons débiles, pas de morale lourde, même pas de suspense.
Inutile de dire qu’à chaque instant, chaque image est un ravissement, du générique de début (naïf et coloré) aux premières images sous-marines (1000 fois plus beau que n’importe quel « grand bleu »), en passant par les scènes de cataclysme et celles, incroyablement belles, de la rencontre entre la flotte de marine marchande et la déesse…
Si on cherche malgré tout un sens et une morale, on peut en déceler en pointillés, par petites touches, sans s’apesantir. Il y a le portrait si juste et si touchant de la maman du garçon, femme qui supporte si mal de ne voir son homme de marin qu’une fois ses traversées finies… Il y a la revanche des mémés, condamnées à l’oubli de la maison de retraite et du fauteuil roulant, et à qui le miracle de Ponyo redonne toute leur pêche… Il y a la solitude de l’une d’elles, revêche et râleuse, mais qui se révèle la plus attachante et la plus chaleureuse quand l’occasion se présente… Bref, derrière le conte de fées renouvelé, sans que ce soit le sujet, il y a du Miyazaki plus « classique »…
Inutile de dire que Mackie junior a adoré, et qu’il lui a fallu le dvd dès que possible. Je n’ai pas non plus hésité à le revoir, et selon moi, Ponyo, indubitablement, est à ranger aux côtés des meilleurs Miyazaki.
oui, enfin le vieux pépé Miyazaki qui raconte des histoires, il est un peu gâteux depuis Chihiro.
T’exagères. Il te manque un enfant de 6 ans pour apprécier ce film !
