Ce mois de mars aura été très particulier. Bien sûr, rien ne saurait être comparé au malheur qui frappe les japonais, et surtout pas les doutes existentiels d’un blogueur bien au chaud chez lui. Mais impossible de faire comme si le cataclysme du 11 mars, et ses conséquences nucléaires, n’étaient pas arrivés. J’ai fait part ici de mes interrogations, à chaud, et je n’y reviendrai pas aujourd’hui.
D’autre part, je ne sais pas si c’est une fausse impression, mais je me demande dans quelle mesure le concours des Sama Awards n’a pas eu un effet inattendu sur ma production (et peut-être celle d’autres blogueurs). Lassitude, flemme, pression, angoisse de la page blanche, appelez-ça comme vous voulez, mais ce n’est même plus du retard que j’ai pris, je suis carrément à l’arrêt. J’ai un sujet. J’ai la matière. Et un calendrier. Mais impossible de m’y mettre. Et ça a même mis en retard ma production habituelle…
Et pourtant je lis. Plein de mangas. Des romans. Je regarde des anime. Depuis le début du mois, outre les mangas qui ont déjà fait l’objet d’un article (le Capital, Tokyo fin d’un monde, Kirihito), j’ai également lu les nouvelles livraisons de Akiba, Dossier A, Ikigami, My Girl, Nanja Monja, Summer Wars et Vinland Saga, les nouveautés Saint Young Men, La ville sans rue, et les intégrales des classiques comme Nausicaa (réédition) et Satsuma. Je reviendrai plus en détail sur ces deux derniers, mais plus tard, ils méritent un billet chacun, au minimum. Enfin bref. Voici donc une petite mise à jour, quelques impressions de lecture pour me rattraper. En deux parties : aujourd’hui, les lectures qui font du bien au moral ; demain (ou dimanche), celles qui font voyager l’esprit, ou frissonner.
Akiba #2
A la lecture de ce numéro 2, une question se pose : comment et par qui les histoires sont elles écrites? Si on excepte l’excellent Terminus, écrit par « Luna Tick » (ouah le calembour!), les 6 autres récits sont écrits par une seule équipe de 3 scénaristes, probablement tous français : « Glou », « Yasmine » et « Dayhne Binatai ». Il s’ensuit une impression d’uniformité dans la mise en page et les dialogues (parfois assez pauvres). J’aimerais bien en savoir plus sur cette équipe, sa ligne éditoriale et ses intentions – à défaut, une bio de chacun serait, je pense, bienvenue.
Sinon, je reste sur mon impression du premier numéro, je place La mort en grève et Terminus au-dessus du lot, le premier pour son originalité, le second pour l’émotion qui s’en dégage. A suivre, c’est le cas de le dire.
My Girl T.3
Je vous ai déjà dit combien j’apprécie cette série? Ah oui, c’est vrai. Eh bien je maintiens. Le troisième volume de cette chronique familiale douce-amère continue dans la même direction, les personnages ayant gagné en maturité et en épaisseur. L’apprentissage de la relation père-fille se poursuit, mais le temps de la simple découverte mutuelle est dépassé. La phase cocooning est également derrière eux. Nous entrons dans une nouvelle année scolaire, la complicité croissante entre Koharu et Masamune les conduit vers une plus grande ouverture au monde extérieur. C’est toujours aussi touchant, et rassérénant.
Pudeur et sensibilité, chaleur et délicatesse, My Girl est vraiment la série à lire pour se remonter le moral. Seul bémol : la date de sortie du volume 4 n’est pas encore fixée.
Nanja Monja T.2
J’avais bien aimé le premier, j’aime bien le second. L’effet de surprise est passé, cette fois on sait où on va : vers un shonen au ton de comédie, sans trop de suspense, avec la découverte d’un monde à la… Arriety, mais je ne vous donnerai pas l’explication. A vous de la lire ! L’histoire se concentre un moment sur Aiko, la petite fille de 3 ans, qui s’avère une menace digne de Godzilla pour le petit monde de Nanja Monja. Le manga vaut pour ses personnages, sympas comme tout, et son atmosphère, champêtre et détendue. Un manga pour se relaxer, quoi. Je pense qu’une adaptation en anime vaudrait le coup. Sortie du prochain volume le 4 mai.

Saint Young Men, alias les vacances de Jésus et Bouddha, est une pochade sympathique et distrayante, bourrée de clins d’oeil (surtout au Bouddha de Tezuka) et constituée d’une suite de scènes de la vie de tous les jours. Le décalage entre le statut divin des héros et leur immersion dans le quotidien est propice à un comique de situation. Pour autant, y a-t-il de quoi faire une série en 6 ou 7 volumes? Les gags étant un peu toujours les mêmes, j’ai du mal à l’imaginer. Peut-être en introduisant de nouveaux personnages divins. Ou bien en amenant Jésus et Bouddha dans des situations plus critiques, au contact de la vraie vie des gens. Parce que bon, Bouddha qui fait la lessive et Jésus qui tient un blog, c’est marrant, certes, mais un peu court. Je ne vais quand même pas faire la fine bouche, les occasions de sourire sont bonnes à prendre, et la légèreté, à défaut de véritable impertinence, avec laquelle c’est amené, fait quand même du bien.
Summer Wars T.3
La catégorie des « mangas qui font du bien » ne serait pas complète si je finissais ce billet sans évoquer le troisième, et déjà dernier, volume de Summer Wars. J’avais donné mes impressions de manière ironique, ce qui avait amené quelques discussions, mais je dois reconnaître, ouvertement, que Summer Wars m’a fait passer un très bon moment. Un manga qui fait la part belle à l’amitié, à l’amour, et à la famille, ce n’est pas très nouveau, mais quand des personnages sont aussi bien campés que la famille Jinnouchi, ça fonctionne à fond et c’est tant mieux. Du coup, l’histoire de Love Machine, du satellite fou et autres complots devient accessoire, et c’est bien là le sujet principal : comment se serrer les coudes, valoriser l’apport de chacun et faire oeuvre collective. Une profession de foi de ce que le Japon a de meilleur à nous offrir, en somme…
Et, cerise sur le gâteau, l’intrigue sentimentale, entre deux personnages mignons tout plein.

Je te rejoins à propos d’Akiba Manga, j’irai même jusqu’à dire que je trouve le résultat un peu brouillon parfois, on sent que ça hésite encore. J’espère que tout ce petit monde trouvera son rythme et que ça s’améliorera par la suite. Par contre j’aime beaucoup La Mort en Grève (y’a bien que le titre qui sente le réchauffé), le dessin épais, rond, vieillot, , ombré, crayonné me plaît beaucoup, et je trouve qu’il y a un sens de l’image à se damner (oh oh).
A part ceux que tu as cités et Les 10 de Sanada (qui reste très honnête pour un shonen), le reste ne m’emballe pas vraiment. Mais je suppose que c’est normal, dans une magazine de prépu on ne peut pas tout aimer ?
Et je trouve les couvertures de My Girl toujours aussi superbes, ça donne envie.
