Je vous avais présenté cette série lors d’un de mes premiers billets. Eh bien, j’ai décidé d’en reparler, parce que c’est toujours avec autant de plaisir que j’ai lu ce nouveau volume des aventures d’Iriya, l’archéologue-brocanteur à la recherche de l’Atlantide, dont la quête l’oriente chaque fois vers un nouveau pays, à la recherche d’indices.
Après le Japon, la Grèce, la Croatie, la Turquie, la Sardaigne… C’est cette fois la lagune de Venise, sur les traces de Marco Polo, puis Vienne, et les ombres de son passé nazi, qui font l’objet des explorations d’Iriya. Pas de révélations spectaculaires (de toutes façons n’attendez pas que je dévoile l’histoire) mais une tendance se confirme : le mystère s’épaissit, et le mythe renvoie vers les origines de la civilisation humaine… Et vers une connaissance que bien des forces tentent encore de s’approprier…
Dossier A conserve également son style de narration depuis le tome 1 : un fil conducteur (la quête de l’Atlantide) et des histoires annexes, qui sont autant d’arcs narratifs presque indépendants. Une structure à la Monster, ce qui n’est pas surprenant, quand on connaît le scénariste. Iriya a d’ailleurs bien des points communs avec Herr Doktor Tenma : brun ténébreux, intellectuel, audacieux, intuitif, humaniste. Et comme Tenma, il n’hésite pas à aller au devant des autres, à entrer dans leur univers, à les bousculer, à provoquer chez eux des changements et des prises de décisions qui les feront changer de point de vue, ou même changer de vie. Et, souvent, à se réconcilier avec leurs proches.
Ces histoires dans l’histoire ajoutent de l’intérêt, même si parfois j’aimerais que ça avance un peu plus vite. Il n’y a pas la même tension que dans Monster, loin s’en faut ; j’attends tout de même des révélations et ce tome 6 les distille, pour le moins, avec parcimonie… Le tome 5 possédait un rythme plus soutenu, grâce à quelques scènes d’actions, dans un genre plus polar. Ici, Venise et Vienne sont avant tout des lieux d’atmosphère, chargés d’histoire, brillante ou sombre ; Dossier A aborde également des sujets plus polémiques, n’hésitant pas à nouer des connexions entre le contexte politique de l’Autriche actuelle, et celui de son passé nazi… Et comme déjà au tome précédent, le rôle du Vatican dans cette intrigue est pour le moins inquiétant…
Heureusement, le rythme de parution est soutenu, puisque le tome 7 est déjà annoncé pour début décembre. Pas moi qui vais m’en plaindre : j’attends avec impatience les nouveaux virages que prendront les protagonistes du mystérieux Dossier A.
