Après un mois de mars en surchauffe (15 articles publiés soit un tous les deux jours, en pleine fièvre de la deadline Sama), ce début d’avril subit une décompression salutaire, non planifiée, symboliquement interrompue par l’installation d’une étagère (ze big affaire du dernier week-end, sans contredit). Car dessus, viennent se ranger de nouveaux volumes, parutions du mois ou classiques redécouverts. C’est le printemps, par chez moi les champs déploient leur mosaïque de vert et de jaune et les arbres se couvrent de fleurs. Mais le printemps peut aussi être propice aux moissons, les miennes se faisant en librairie.
Saint Seiya Edition « Deluxe » T.2
1er avril : sortie du tome 2 de l’édition deluxe. Après la curiosité et l’effet de surprise, voici venu le cap difficile à passer de la confirmation. Hélas, ce ne sera pas un cap de bonne espérance… Je rappelle que je découvre la série. Le tome 2 se concentre sur la suite du tournoi, et se conclut avec l’arrivée d’Ikki et de ses chevaliers noirs. Il y a donc une indéniable progression. D’où vient donc la frustration que j’ai ressentie à sa lecture? D’abord, tout se passe exclusivement dans l’arène, ce qui rend le récit assez monotone. Pas de nouveau décor, sauf les fugaces souvenirs du dragon qui nous transportent brièvement dans une Chine d’estampe. Ensuite, et surtout, l’édition n’est plus autant « de luxe » : alors que le premier tome proposait 64 pages couleurs, cette fois il n’y en a pas une seule ! « Une magnifique édition, entièrement retraduite et relettrée, reprenant l’intégrale de ce manga culte avec des posters et des pages couleurs« , qu’ils disaient. Du coup, à part la qualité de papier, je me demande ce qui reste de luxueux. J’attends le tome suivant, annoncé le 3 juin prochain, pour vérifier si cette tendance se confirme.
Ashita no Joe T.1 & T.2
Au moins, la collection Vintage de Glénat, elle, ne fait pas dans l’édition bling-bling. On ne rase pas gratis. Sobriété et élégance, et priorité donnée au contenu, rien qu’au contenu. C’est un peu intimidé que j’ai commencé cette lecture, et je viens de finir le tome 2. A vrai dire, c’est probablement prématuré d’en parler déjà maintenant. Sauf pour dire une chose : Si Ashita no Joe a certes acquis un statut de monument, je dois souligner que cela reste avant tout, et surtout, un shonen, prenant, vivant, et divertissant. Faut pas se laisser impressionner : faut le lire, point barre. Compte-rendu à venir : quand j’aurais fini la série (en cours).
Une sacrée mamie T.1 & T.2
Cela faisait un moment que je souhaitais me pencher sur ce manga, dont la publication française remonte à 2009, chez Akata, dans l’excellente collection Ginkgo dont je suis très client (Enfant soldat, Je ne suis pas mort, Dossier A, Les Fils de la terre, Tokyo fin d’un monde…). Le titre et le design (jusqu’au lettrage de couverture) sont assez enfantins, mais je crois qu’il s’adresse plutôt à un public mature, en raison de son sujet et de son contexte : la vie à la campagne, dans la grande pauvreté, d’un enfant né à Hiroshima. Il s’agit de l’adaptation des mémoires de Yoshichi Shimada, acteur comique connu, qui racontait ces anecdotes à son ami Takeshi Kitano. Kitano lui a conseillé d’en faire un livre, et c’est ensuite devenu un manga. Le résultat, c’est une chronique douce-amère, pleine de tendresse, d’humour et de finesse sur l’enfance. C’est surtout le portrait d’une femme extraordinaire, la mamie, qui déploie des trésors d’imagination, et une énergie hors du commun pour donner une enfance heureuse à son petit-fils. Dans sa postface, Shimada attribue sa vocation d’acteur comique à l’influence de sa grand-mère. Je veux bien le croire : loin d’être misérabiliste, cette histoire m’a fait rire aux éclats à plusieurs reprises. Surtout le tome 2, le tome 1 étant une introduction avec des moments souvent poignants. Je ne vous en dis pas plus pour le moment, mais c’est mon coup de coeur du mois, indéniablement.
Bakuman T.6
Après ça, retrouver le dernier Bakuman, c’est un peu comme une routine. Agréable, certes, mais une routine quand même. Il ne faut pas attendre le même degré de nouveauté que dans les premiers tomes ; et pour sortir de la routine, justement, rien de tel que des évènements dramatiques. En l’occurrence, une maladie avec passage sur le billard. Le duo peut-il continuer à bosser? Cela ne met-il pas la série en péril? Bon, ça fait un peu procédé, et franchement, l’amourette platonique commence à traîner un peu en longueur (et alors, c’est quand qu’ils concluent, ces deux bênets?) mais ça reste sympathique à lire et heureusement, l’intrigue reste centrée sur l’essentiel : l’édition d’un manga au Jump. Les personnages secondaires sont assez drôles, à part les filles, qui sont définitivement des nouilles au QI proche de leur temps de cuisson en minutes. Ce qui ne nous change pas tellement de Death Note, à ce niveau. Ohba et Obata, deux gros machos? Cela ne fait plus guère de doute…

ah oui franchement vas-y, tu ne le regretteras pas. c’est vraiment à part, je suis totalement sous le charme. rarement ça m’était arrivé : lire un manga sous la couette et rigoler bruyamment comme un bossu. à tel point que madame, que les mangas laissent habituellement de marbre, m’a demandé hier : « mais qu’est-ce que tu lis? »
