Les Chroniques, le JDJ et moi (billet d’autojustification)

J’ai hésité avant d’écrire ce billet, mais je vous le devais au moins à titre d’excuses. Donc hop. Je ne suis pas très fier d’avoir délaissé le blog pendant deux mois, sans nouvelles, d’autant qu’en parallèle ma contribution au Journal du Japon s’accroît. Je tiens donc à vous rassurer : je n’ai pas l’intention d’abandonner les Chroniques d’un newbie, c’est juste que je m’organise assez mal. Et aussi que je ne suis pas au mieux de ma forme, l’âge tout ça, mais je ne vais pas me lancer dans mylife.org, ce n’est pas ce que vous attendez et tant mieux. S’agissant de ma participation au JDJ, je vous dois quand même quelques précisions.

Tout d’abord, si je me suis engagé dans cette nouvelle aventure, c’est parce que j’en avais envie, et qu’on me l’a proposé. J’y trouve plusieurs avantages : l’occasion de m’essayer à un autre style d’écriture, moins chronique, plus article ; travailler en équipe, et ainsi faire des rencontres ; participer à des évènements que je n’aurais pas approchés tout seul. Je remercie Ramza, qui m’a fait confiance (est-ce que je la mérite, c’est pas à moi d’en juger).

Petite mise au point au passage : qu’on ne vienne pas me barber avec les services de presse, ça n’a rien à voir. Car si j’en reçois (très peu), c’est pour les Chroniques. Les seuls que je reçois pour le JDJ c’est en littérature, pas en manga. Pour l’interview de Florent Chavouet, par exemple, j’avais acheté mon exemplaire. En plus il n’y a qu’un seul éditeur manga qui m’envoie régulièrement des SP, Taifu/Ototo pour ne pas le citer. Ma relation est d’ailleurs avec celui-ci très saine, puisque nous avons convenu ensemble que je ne me gênerai pas pour écrire que tel titre me plaît moins, ce qui s’est produit, ou pas. Et même avec cet éditeur, le ratio est nettement en faveur de ce que je lui achète (une vingtaine de volumes cette année) par rapport à ce qu’il m’envoie (une dizaine en 2013). Fin de la digression.

Le Journal du Japon est un webzine, pas un blog. En tous cas c’est ce qu’il a vocation à devenir. Vous ne vous en rendez pas forcément compte, mais il y a de nombreux changements en cours : nouvelles têtes, nouvelle organisation, nouveaux objectifs. Je ne peux pas trop en dire, car certaines choses en préparation ne produiront leurs effets visibles que dans les prochaines semaines/mois, et je ne vais pas spoiler le travail fait en coulisses. En tous cas, en tant que membre de l’équipe, je suis parfaitement conscient des progrès qu’il reste à y accomplir, ne serait-ce qu’à mon humble niveau, qui consiste à rédiger les articles culture et littérature – pour le moment seul, jusqu’à ce qu’on trouve au moins une autre personne en renfort dans ce domaine (d’ailleurs, avis aux gens motivés…).

Il y a en ce moment un débat, lancé par un des mes estimés confrères blogueurs, auquel je n’ai pas souhaité participer par souci de neutralité, et pour conserver un certain recul. Je m’aperçois malgré tout que ma présente chronique y participe au moins indirectement, ce serait malhonnête de ne pas le reconnaître. Tout ce que je puis dire pour faire avancer le schmilblik, c’est qu’au-delà de certains commentaires (pas nécessairement de l’auteur de l’article), que j’ai trouvés inutilement blessants, il y a des éléments à prendre en compte.

Je suis tout-à-fait d’accord pour considérer, de manière générale, que même dans une rédaction collective, il convient de conserver sa personnalité et son autonomie. Je m’attache d’ailleurs à le faire dans mes propres contributions, mais ce n’est pas aussi facile que dans un blog perso. Un web média n’est pas un copié-collé des blogs de ceux qui y participent, il doit tenir compte du fait que son lectorat est beaucoup plus large, plus mainstream, et faire attention à éviter les jugements de valeur. Et il ne faut pas oublier non plus que le public de base du JDJ était, et reste peut-être encore aujourd’hui, surtout constitué d’amateurs de J-Pop, pas de fans hardcore de gekiga. On peut – on doit – pouvoir tout aborder dans le Journal du Japon dès lors que ça concerne l’actualité de la culture et et des loisirs nippons en France, mais le faire en rupture serait contre-productif.

Tout en reconnaissant que rien n’est parfait dans le meilleur des mondes, je regrette que des jugements aussi peu nuancés aient été émis sur une équipe jeune, perfectible et motivée. Et bénévole. Ce que nous faisons n’est pas que de la rédaction d’articles : réunions, relectures, back-office, développements informatiques, relations publiques, démarches administratives etc… Je suis personnellement assez peu touché par ces commentaires (je ne suis d’ailleurs pas nommé), et habituellement je m’abstiens d’y répondre, mais là,  je ne suis pas seul dans le coup, donc pour une fois, je m’exprime (et je n’ai demandé d’autorisation à personne).

Ce que je n’avais pas mesuré, c’est que ma participation au JDJ n’aurait pas que des avantages : je n’ai rien écrit (un seul article) pour le blog depuis la rentrée. Comme dit plus haut, je n’ai pas été au meilleur de ma santé ces derniers temps. Ça va mieux. Bref. En tous cas, quand j’ai eu de l’énergie pour écrire, j’ai accordé la priorité au JDJ. J’aurais pu dire zut, je vais bosser pour ma pomme, les autres rien à foutre. Mais non, question de choix.

Le bon côté des choses c’est que j’ai énormément lu pendant tout ce temps. Beaucoup de romans, d’essais, et de mangas. J’ai assez de matière pour tenir un moment, ayant écumé les dépôts-ventes, sites d’occasion, et même mon libraire habituel. Imaginez – truc de ouf – que j’ai commencé Dragon Ball, que je n’avais jamais lu. Et Soul Eater. Et Bastard. Et Berzerk, que j’ai repris. Et plein d’autres trucs, au hasard de mes lubies ou de mes trouvailles. Côté animes par-contre c’est la dèche. J’ai bien visionné des choses, mais rien qui m’enthousiasme. Ah si ! Utena. La série et le film. Faudra que je vous en parle, j’ai pris des notes en regardant. J’ai regardé aussi Ergo Proxy, plutôt bien aimé, mais probablement qu’un second visionnage sera nécessaire pour m’en imprégner mieux. Je ferai peut-être un billet fourre-tout sur les séries/OAV vus et qui ne m’ont moins marqué, si je trouve des trucs à dire dessus. C’est pas gagné.

Non, ce que j’ai surtout aimé, c’est de reprendre un rythme de lecture élevé de livres avec pas d’images dedans. De tout : des histoires de ninjas, des romans psychologiques, des polars, des essais, des haikus, du fantastique, du WTF, bref, du nippon. Ça m’a fait du bien.

Côté mangas, à part les classiques déjà cités, j’ai complété mes lacunes dans plusieurs domaines, notamment shojo & josei, quelques vieilleries, et quand même des nouveautés. J’ai bien aimé par exemple L’attaque des titans, mais pas autant que Vertical, ou que Zéro pour l’éternité. J’aimerais bien pouvoir casser ma tirelire pour de très belles choses parues chez Isan Manga, Cornelius etc, mais le prix des Kamen Rider, Une vie dans les marges ou autres Anthologie de Moto Hagio (oui, oui, je lis le forum de Mangaverse) dépassent mon budget (qui est de toutes façons explosé le 10 du mois). Si le père Noël est sympa, peut-être… Enfin, mon dernier coup de cœur en date (hier), c’est Sing Yesterday for me, je vous en parle très vite, le fait de l’écrire ici m’y oblige (une promesse est une promesse!).

Voilà, il paraît que le 13 novembre est la journée de la gentillesse, vous aurez donc j’espère lu ce qui précède avec un peu de bienveillance. J’ai d’ailleurs reçu des messages s’inquiétant de ma baisse de productivité, ça me prouve que je ne me trompe pas à votre sujet. Alors merci.

    J’espère que ta santé ira en s’améliorant. Il est vrai que la diminution brutale de ton rythme de publication m’inquiétait.

    Concernant les SP, tu dois être le seul blogueur irréprochable à ma connaissance, puisque tu précises absolument toujours quand tu en chroniques. J’aimerais que tout le monde soit aussi exemplaire.
    Ensuite, pour nuancer mon propre propos, mon article ne porte que sur les critiques ; pour rester sur le JdJ (puisqu’il s’agit du thème de ce billet), je n’ai strictement rien à redire concernant les articles de fond, les interviews,… Soit assuré que je n’avais nullement l’intention d’être blessant.

    Et l’anthologie Moto Hagio vaut le coup, n’hésite pas à la commander au Père Noël.

      @Igfe & Gemini : merci, pas d’inquiétude : j’ai pris un coup de vieux, et je me suis inquiété pour des soucis plus spectaculaires que graves, qu’on pourra qualifier de « grosse fatigue » pour rester vague. Depuis deux semaines c’est nettement mieux. Par-contre, dommage collatéral, je suis au régime, faut donc pas me faire chier, le premier qui me cherche je le mange !

      Pour les SP, j’ai effectivement toujours été transparent, et je dois dire que ça joue peut-être contre moi, puisque seul Taifu/Ototo m’en envoie ! D’ailleurs, je lance un appel aux éditeurs qui…

      Mais non je ne l’ai pas dit. J’en ai aussi parfois ponctuellement d’autres maisons, d’ailleurs je dois à Komikku au moins deux chroniques, ça tombe bien parce que j’ai bcp aimé Les fleurs du passé, et Mes petits plats faciles by Hana.

      Je n’ai rien d’exemplaire, c’est juste que ma maman m’a toujours dit de remercier les gens.

          je peux pas dire, j’ai bien essayé mais j’peux plus rester lire debout trop longtemps, avec mon dos en puzzle.
          et puis un quadra barbichu qui feuillète publiquement des shojo ça fait vieux pervers, dans une petite ville comme chez moi les réputations se font vite.

    hey tâchez de ne pas mourir avant d’avoir amener votre moufler à la Japan Expo, qu’il soit cosplayé en Naruto ou pas ! Soyez gentil vous aussi, et amenez le, il a aussi le droit de s’amuser autant que vous !

    Je ne sais pas quelle est la clientèle de JdJ ou bien son objectif réel, mais quand je lis, j’ai parfois l’impression d’y voir de la vulgarisation et les interviews ont souvent l’impression d’être orienté « objectif d’être source pour wikipedia », vu que pas mal de réponses sont trouvables sur internet.
    Prenez le comme une critique si cela vous déplait, ce fait ne me dérange pas plus que çà, je vais pas demander à me rembourser le temps perdu. Mais c’est juste le ressenti d’un vieux con qui a roulé sa bosse.

    et ce n’est pas parce qu’on est jeune et benevole qu’on doit pas avoir un minimum de sérieux quand on fait un truc. J’ai fais du bénévolat pour les nécessiteux et je me suis toujours appliqué alors que j’ai pas touché un seul rond. De même quand je faisais parti du BDE de ma fac.
    * écrire un article sur le sakuga, en disant que Makoto Shinkai fait du sakuga, c’est absolument ne pas comprendre le sujet de l’article qu’on écrit.
    * j’étais présent dans le fond, lors de l’itw de Teshirogi au toonist, poser la question « quelles sont vos inspirations pour les créations d’armure dans St Seiya Lost Canvas? » est quand même enorment hors sujet, car il suffit de regarder la série TV originelle pendant la batailles des 12 maisons pour se rendre compte que les Myth Cloth sont quasi les mêmes que celles-ci, plus que ceux de Kurumada plus détaillée, et on rend compte clairement celle de Tenma, c’est une V2 ou une V3 de Pegasus.
    A ce stade, c’est pas de l’ignorance mais de l’incompétence.
    (et vu l’évidence de la réponse, me semble que cette question fut virée à la publication, c’était un minimum)

    Sing Yesterday for me, c’est très bien, mangez en, je suis maudit avec Akata, chez eux j’ai Nana et Le Pacte des Yokai. Du coup j’hésite à acheter Puzzle, j’ai pas envie que la mangaka tombe malade :(

      Rukawa, Puzzle est terminé donc tu peux y aller :) . 13 volumes, tout a été traduit en France chez Akata. Moi aussi un peu maudite chez Akata avec Onmyôji et Le Pacte des yôkai ;) .

      Je ne suis pas l’auteur de l’interview de Teshirogi, mais je suis à l’origine de bien des questions useless, dans le cadre de d’autres rencontres, et j’en rougis encore aujourd’hui. Ce qui ne signifie d’ailleurs pas pour autant que je trouve mes questions systématiquement pertinentes, quand je traite les informations que j’ai récolté sur des entrevues plus récentes.

      Je trouve ça juste un peu dommage de dénigrer quelqu’un parce qu’il a posé une/des question(s) sans intérêt lors d’une des premières interviews qu’il ait jamais mené. C’est comme tout, l’interview est un exercice qui s’apprend et c’est souvent à nos dépends. S’il a bien compris la leçon, il y a peu de chance que tu l’y reprennes.

      Des questions aux réponses évidentes, on n’en subit par exemple pas à chaque table ronde, mais presque. Même si, sur le coup, ça m’agace parfois, je prends sur moi, simplement parce que ça peut arriver à tout le monde. D’autant que ce qui est évident pour certains ne l’est pas forcément pour d’autres.

      Bref, tout ça pour dire qu’un peut de compréhensivité envers ses cadets ne mange pas de pain, si ?

    Cela fait plaisir d’avoir quelques nouvelles de toi. Je ne connais pas le JDJ, mais j’ai noté l’adresse, j’irai y faire un tour ;)
    Et j’ai également tout récemment entamé Dragon Ball, dont je n’avais que de vagues souvenirs du DA (des combats qui durent 5 épisodes en gros). A 3 tomes, une surprise tant dans la construction (un ressenti 1 chapitre = 1 blague, l’histoire avance à une vitesse folle) que dans le ton (enfantin, mais tellement coquin que ça parait fou que ça puisse s’adresser à des enfants). Et il faudrait que je reprenne Bersek aussi (gros à 14 tomes…) :/

    Je comprends ton ressenti Mackie, je fais moi aussi partie d’un collectif hebdomadaire (http://blogkbd.wordpress.com/) en plus de mon propre blog et concillier les deux n’est pas toujours évident. Le truc c’est de parvenir à trouver un certain rythme de croisière… avec le temps ça finit par venir, faut pas s’inquiéter. Écoute plutôt ta santé et ménage-toi s’il le faut, et écris si tu le sens. Faut savoir se faire plaisir et souffler de temps en temps.

    Pour ce qui est du débat sur la critique, tu fais partie des blogs que je lis parce que tu es juste et argumenté dans tes propos. Les lecteurs savent à quoi s’en tenir en venant ici. Peu de bloggeurs s’expriment comme tu le fais et ça je l’apprécie vraiment. Alors continue comme ça.

    comme inico je ne connaissais pas le JdJ; et après un rapide tour je ne comprends pas trop ce que le Mackie que je lis ici avec grand plaisir fait là bas, tant la ligne éditoriale / coeur de cible n’a pas l’air raccord. Mais tant que les Chroniques du Newbie sont alimentées, le reste je m’en fous royalement. Les guerres de comptoir, les susceptibilités d’égo et autres défiances entre blog (ou webzine, meme ça ne veut rien dire à part tenter de se placer au dessus du lot) « spécialisés », franchement ça devrait se régler par email pas par billet d’humeur / commentaires.

    @Mackie: La fatigue c’est pas facile. Je commence à me sentir « vieille » corporellement et je comprends tout à fait! Bon courage. Ce n’est clairement pas facile de concilier deux supports. J’ai été lire tes chroniques de bouquins (car je pense que le débat sur JdJ porte avant tout sur le manga) et tu restes sur un ton proche de ton blog donc c’est chouette. D’accord donc avec ce que dit Guillaume sur ton blog.

    Je ne lui fais aucunement la leçon à lui, j’expose juste un fait : il n’y connait rien à cet univers.

    C’est bien dommage puisque j’aime me délecter de tes petites chroniques, mais l’aventure c’est toujours bon, alors saisis ta chance avec le JdJ, t’as pas signé un contrat d’exclusivité ni un contrat à vie, alors je ne m’inquiète pas :P
    Bon par contre, j’attends toujours ton retour sur Coelacanth et maintenant que tu l’as dit, celui sur Utena. Vraiment. Beaucoup. Et puis t’as pas fini ton tour des fanzineux, j’aurai bien voulu lire toutes les chroniques sur mes confrères, mais qu’importe, vis les opportunités présentes !
